A prolific and talented local ‘artiste’ who has a passion for painting and the sculpted medium.
Born an Irish Liverpudlian and now in his late forties, he found his way to Cornwall as a teenager in the mid-sixties. Here he was immediately drawn into Newquay’s embryonic surf culture. This provided him with an early passion for wave-riding, a lifelong peer group and a source of inspiration which is clearly reflected in some of his recent art works.
Sam dislikes to define any of his very diverse paintings beyond giving them a title, thereby giving the voyeur full freedom to make their own projections.
However, in the current exhibited pieces one can see the complexity and intricate details which signify all of Sam’s work; with wonderful scenes, vibrant colours, hidden agendas, undertones, significant issues and ideals his work is true modern art and we feel shall be recognised as such in time.
