Taking his inspiration from the landscape and the sea, Duncan is interested in the effect of natural light on colour, and his distinctive palette conveys the cool yet vibrant shades of sea and sky as they appear in the glare of the sun.

Verging on abstract, his work is characterised by the dense application of richly textured acrylics, which creates a strong sense of spontaneity and unstoppable energy.
