Margaret Johnson

Margaret obtained a BA Hons in fine art & sculpture at Goldsmith’s college, London from 1974-1978. A post graduate course at Exeter University followed in 1981. After a long period in teaching in both schools & adult education she decided to develop her own ideas.

A great deal of  time has been spent painting in watercolours and over recent years she has explored the use of colour, texture & form with translucency of glass with an unusual technique involving the use of straw fibre.

Now based in Devon, her recent pieces develop the idea of decorating glass with strawsilk fibre in various colours using gold leaf and other precious metals, all sealed to the underside of the glassware with resin.
