Govinder Nazran

Govinder is an extremely popular contemporary artist, producing deceptively simple images, in a humorous vein? He works from initial sketches with the colours already pre-determined, but applies the paint itself not with brushes, but with solid oil bars, which he applies directly onto the canvas, followed by the manipulation of paint with his fingers to finally obtain his trademark images. In addition he produces small sculptural pieces related to his painted works.

Govinder finds it difficult to explain his work verbally, but says that most of his paintings are about good and evil, or more particularly innocence and malevolence, leaving it to the observer to decide which of these they find, in the particular image which they peruse.
